Thriving

Thriving – embracing life with or without PTSD.

“I don’t just want you surviving, I want you to be thriving.”  My introduction to thriving.  I was puzzled by what it was.  Concrete images for me, when plants thrive they grow and bloom.  When caterpillar’s thrive, they become butterflies.  When humans thrive, joy and happiness come into their lives.  When they mourn, they find comfort.  When they greet their friends and family, warmth and love abound.  Thriving and growing require nurturing and feeding.  Counseling is often scaled back from professional counseling to family and friends supporting you.  Some people complain that thriving doesn’t last.  I appreciate Zig Ziglar’s comment about motivation, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing, that’s why we recommend it daily.”  Thriving is a decision to be renewed daily.  Choosing to thrive takes over PTSD. It is still part of my life but it is a pesky adjustment.  I look forward to my daily adventures.
