I work at a school so 2 months of summer is spent in a variety of activities that I don’t seem to get done during the school year. This year is marked with adventures of all kinds. Some not so great. I ate soy at a restaurant that assured me their product was soy free. Followed with attempting to hike a mountain in Phoenix resulting in giving myself heat exhaustion. I had a water bottle but started the hike too late in the day. Temperatures were already soaring into the 90’s and quickly heading into the triple digits. So recovery time took all day. Did not plan to spend my day recovering from exercising. Reminder to self….do not underestimate the power of dry heat.
I’m constantly amazed at how quickly time passes yet other times it creeps on long at a snails pace. Perception of time is not a strong point because most of my life it was not continuous. Dissociation at a severe level can cause disruptions in the time continuum. I joke that I would go to sleep on Monday, wake up on Wednesday and wonder what happened on Tuesday and why am I in trouble for it. Time is measured electronically but the body can be fairly clueless.
I can’t find the exact quote but it is about how people measure time.
Ask a person that just came in second how long is a split second.
Ask a person waiting in emergency care for their child how long an hour is.
Ask a person with a terminal illness how long a day is.
And the list goes on how time is relative to the activity or challenge.
When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That’s relativity. Albert Einstein
