I’m always on the look out for articles that back up what I experienced. One of them is doing crafts, drawing, or photography. For me it is crocheting, for others knitting, or any of the other numerous creative endeavors that help a person feel more relaxed. One of the benefits is the need to be present in the moment. A creative mindfulness that keeps me tied to the moment, present, and with practice relaxed. Photography is another thing that I do that I get into a creative ‘zone’ that puts me in a wonderful mood when I am done. I now consider following these pursuits as part of my self care practices. It makes a difference. I am interested by the fact that doing the activity in groups actually enhances the activity. Quilting clubs, sewing circles, scrap booking parties, and other activities all add to good mental health practices.
