Symptoms reviewed

I joined two groups on Facebook that focus on living with and healing from PTSD.  One of the moderators, Matt, posts some excellent links.  This one is a review of the different symptoms for several disorders that sometimes overlapping leading to not quite right diagnosis which may prolong finding the best treatment.  No small wonder we feel overwhelmed and confused.  This is a lot to wrap you mind around.  First time I read the list of PTSD symptoms I had 100%.  I also learned a 100% is not always a good thing.  My counselor explained that rarely are all symptoms present at all times.  They come and go and sometimes stay around a long time.  This is why getting a firm diagnosis is difficult.  My therapist discouraged me from putting one name on my behaviors.  He wanted me to think about being on a continuum with the goal of getting healthier.

MDD – Major Depressive Disorder

PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

CPTSD – Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

BPD – Borderline Personality Disorder

Imagine each symptom on a continuum.
