Calling team memebers

My posts may seem like I am jumping around a bit.  Reality is I have a big chart over my computer with columns of ideas.  I am trying to fill in the big pieces.  I am a strong advocate for suicide prevention but I also believe it takes more than saying, “Just say no”…..as the…

Shame or Warning sign

In the comments: “I found a few people I could talk to about suicide, i.e., when I felt like I was at the end of my rope. They were level headed and accepted I was depressed. They didn’t overreact. They didn’t lecture me or shame me. They accepted my feelings while ensuring I felt valued.…

Danger of Suicide

Suicide Statistically speaking not every depressed person thinks about suicide but almost every suicide attempt is by someone that could be diagnosed with depression.  Suicide attempts considered a cry for help or a feeling of hopelessness or or an ending to the never ending nightmare or several different reasons.  If you are considering suicide as…

Counseling

Counseling, fortunately, is becoming more acceptable.  Unfortunately, media portrays every PTSD survivor as a threat or a liar.  Great…(Read this word dripping in sarcasm, anyone willing to create a sarcasm font?)  I don’t need the media making my life any harder than it already is.  Determination is needed to start counseling.  Courage required to keep…

Boundaries – Human rights

Trauma = boundaries violated. If you never have a boundary, how do you teach them? A child knows only what is given.  If they are given misinformation, they learn misinformation.  It is possible to teach a child that black is white,  that good is bad, that hunger is wrong, and hurting is ‘normal’. Twisted thinking…

deNile just ain’t a river

Not me! Nothing all that bad happened to me. I don’t remember anything bad happening. Problems happen to everyone. Every kid has bad things happen.  Its just part of growing up. Denial……If you don’t believe it happened then it didn’t happen, right? Wrong…..your body remembers.  Your subconscious remembers.  Your nightmare remembers.  Denying anything is wrong…

Routines

Major groan subject…Boring….been there done that. Why have such a dull post? “I was also sick of my neighbors, as most Parisians are. I now knew every second of the morning routine of the family upstairs. At 7:00 am alarm goes off, boom, Madame gets out of bed, puts on her deep-sea divers’ boots, and…

Waking up

Judy’s comment on Sleep reminded me of the hazards of waking up. Judy – I changed my alarm clock from a buzzing monstrosity to a radio station I like (K-LOVE) or a CD. Part of sleeping is waking up.  Has everyone noticed that after you go to sleep you wake up?  (Really need a sarcasm…

Sleep

Ask a person with PTSD about their sleep and you will get anything from “It’s great, I actually got 4 hours of sleep” to “Shut the hell up.”  Sleep is not kind for this is where your mind can be very unruly and bring up the past with videos with new additions or a constant…

Waiting

I’m waiting until I get back from vacation to add more pages and information. I’m working from my phone and I’m terrible with one finger typing. I am experimenting with white noise to help me sleep. Note to self: chimes are very annoying. So far rain and thunder is the most soothing.
