Good to be a HOG

I am continuing with my comments on Pavelka’s Toolbox.  https://pavelka.co.uk/

HOG – Honest Open and Genuine

I believe this is part of Rule #1 Stop lying, especially to yourself.  I was deeply troubled by the lies upon lies I lived with everyday to maintain the facade that my childhood was great.  For me to be HOG, I had to tear away the layers of lies.  It was painful.  It took a long time.  I was very uncomfortable.  What advantage was there?  I stopped having secrets.  It takes a lot of energy to maintain secrets.  First step honesty.  Next step open, vulnerability.  Brene Brown spoke in a TED talk on this subject.  I shared it on my other blog.  http://weareone-ruth.blogspot.com/2016/12/shame-and-vulnerability.html   Takes about an hour to watch both of her videos.  I watch them about once a year working at grasping this concept.  In my opinion, genuine is a result of being Honest and Open.  I am starting to believe that Going whole HOG will have a new meaning for me.  All in…..complete change from the lies, secrets, and false fronts I grew up in.

Pavelka does give a caution….”Always be HOG and make sure you explain to people how you are feeling in fractious situations. Before you start to be HOG, make sure you are centred and in a position of power before you explain your feelings.”

Centred – grounded – sure of your own place in the universe – knowing how you feel….insight.  Sharing how you feel from the secure position of being centered and grounded in a clear understanding of what you believe is best for yourself.

For those that are at the beginning of their truth campaign please understand, “The truth will make you free, but first it is really miserable.”
